Wedding Day!
A fantastic day at a fantastic location – that about sums it up, as we’re sure our 45 or so guests would attest!
We were a little worried about what the weather would be like for our Big Day, as the weather the entire week beforehand was nothing short of depressing, as rain & wind were the dominating factors. In the end, we got very lucky, and as you can see from the photos, were smiled upon by the weather gods and it ended up being the perfect day weather-wise.
We were married in front of friends and family at Ariel Sands Resort. About 30 of our closest friends from Bermuda were there, plus our immediate families (parents, brothers & sisters) flew in along with Jenn’s friend Leanne and my friend Mark. The ceremony started around 5pm, and lasted a whole 20 minutes – nothing like getting to the point! After the ceremony, we were whisked away by our photographer, Sacha Blackburne, to take pictures on and around the beach. It was a lot of fun – she had us doing all sorts of things, including one of our favorite pictures of us rocking in a hammock. She had a lot of great ideas, it helped that she was very familiar with the location – we have all sorts of beautiful pictures to choose from, she captured everything: having fun on the beach, our new extended families, our friends, and of course the more tender and serious moments of the day. And don’t forget the cake!

Nice Spot for Our Reception
Our videographer, meanwhile, was following us around – he did a great job as well, we hardly knew he was there. It’s turned out to be a great keepsake of our day, we’ll be sure to share with our families and everyone who couldn’t be there.
So after the initial photo shoot, we made our first official appearance as husband and wife at our cocktail reception, at the beach-side next to where the ceremony took place. All the guests were able to head up there to whet their whistles while we were getting our pictures taken – it worked out quite well for everyone! The champagne was flowing, and as responsible hosts, we had hot and cold food being served by waiters (yes, fancy!). It was a great way to get the night started.
After the cocktail reception, it was over to the dinner area, a few steps away from where cocktails were served. Our colors were pink and orange, we implemented these everywhere in the dinner tent area – hanging lanterns, napkins, candle wrappers, place cards, flowers on the cake… It all worked out well, it looked fantastic, the folks at Ariel Sands did a great job. We had our official ‘first dance’ before dinner was served, in order to have better light for our pictures! (Yes, more pictures! Dinner was promptly served thereafter, we opted for a buffet-style menu and it was quite tasty! After we stuffed ourselves and had a few short and sweet speeches, it was time to put on the dancing shoes and party hat…
All in all, a perfect day.
