…To put a cone on my head.  Oh… no, that’s just Ryley!  (She actually did this after I asked her put it on her head, what a funny kid.)  No, actually, we feel the need – the need for speed!  Race weekend at the Wilson household, we started off Saturday afternoon with a bike race for Josh – his 1st ever!  Jenn heard about this race series for kids put on in the Arboretum by one of the insurance companies on the island, it was a pretty fun time for us all!
A little warm up for Josh on the see-saw… nice work there!  I think he went over this thing about 50 times throughout the course of the few hours we were at the race area.  This was stationed at the end of a little kid-friendly obstacle course of sorts, Josh loved it.
Ok, time for the race!  On your mark, get set… stop waving and go!!  What a kid.  Funny picture, though – luckily the race hadn’t started yet here or he might have got run over by all the other 5 and under kids that participated (the 6 and ups had their own races, too).  Ryley was quite mezmerized at some points by all the kids on bikes zooming by.

Josh was in two races – he got a little break between to cookie-load for some much-needed energy!

We have a winner!  Ok, maybe he didn’t get first place, but he was happy to get a medal at any rate.  Job well done!  Looks like Ryley might be raring to race next year… she likes to try to ride Josh’s bike.
Next up on the race schedule – Jenn ran a 5K run on Sunday morning.  Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t as ideal as the afternoon before for Josh’s race, as the kids and I had to huddle under an umbrella to wait for mom to zoom by!  (We’re such dedicated fans!)  Jenn came in under half an hour, which was her goal, so it was a success, even if we all got a little wet.
We capped off the morning on Sunday with a trip out to Dockyard for a short dolphin encounter, organized by the MAMA playgroup.  Josh and Jenn got to feed and play with the dolphins for about 15 minutes, Josh was quite eager to volunteer to throw the fish out for the dolphins to eat, and he got to work ‘the stick with the ball on the end’ in helping with one of the tricks!  The dolphins are typically pretty entertaining, today was no different.  Josh had to towel off at the end as they gave him a good splash at one point (not sure if he liked that or not)… Good times!
