We started out with lunch at Blackbeard’s, out on the tip of St. George’s island. We hadn’t been there since before the kids were born, and it was pretty much as we had remembered it. They have a little beach there right below the restaurant so we hung out there for about a half hour while we waited for the restaurant to open! A good opportunity for some pictures, anyway.
After lunch, it was off to Ferry Reach for some exercise! We discovered that there’s an old Fort there right at the end of the park (which was closed during our visit). Most of the park is just trees and scenic stops along the Railway trail, which we walked on for a long time before turning around and coming back to where we had parked.
As you can see, we brought Josh’s balance bike along so that he could tear around, which he thoroughly enjoyed! He also surprised us by ditching his bike from time to time to ‘go for a run’. Off he went, little arms a-swingin’!
As Ferry reach is right near the airport, we caught a close-up view of about 3 or so planes coming in for a landing during our adventure. The kids thought that was pretty cool, as did Dad!
Our little goofball (above) and princess (below).
Josh and Daddy taking a seperate trail on the way back, just to check it out. Some nice, forested off-shoots from the main trail also were discovered along the way.
On the way back past the airport, we saw a big Royal Air Force jet with a few smaller fighter jets alongside it. We pulled over to the side of the road for a few photos (Josh thought they were pretty cool, like the ‘Top Gun’ jets).
Another adventure in the books!
