There was lots of stuff going on for the kids this last weekend!  It all started Thursday morning – the kids’ school (Building Blocks Academy) were performing about 5 songs or so at the annual Ag Show here at the Botanical Gardens.  They reprised their performances from their big concert at the end of January in front of a decent crowd – it was better with costumes, but it was still great!  Jenn and I stole an hour off work to go and watch.

I think one of the highlights of the weekend was Josh getting his new bike!  He has been happily bombing around on his little balance bike until now, but he’s shown some interest in using a bike with pedals as of late so we did a little research in town and found one just right for him!  (He wanted a red one, that was pretty much his only criteria.)  I had Friday off, so I brought it home from the office on Thursday and we went out to the Railway trail to test it out with Friday.  We kept the training wheels on for the first few days…

(Ryley is running away from Josh as she thinks he’s chasing her!)

 Enjoying the view…

Ryley, of course, fell down a few times – here she’s showing me her boo-boos…

As if that wasn’t enough excitement for one weekend, Saturday was Josh’s first tee ball game of the season as well!  He had a practice on Thursday with his team, plus we’d been practicing playing catch long before this weekend as well, so he was ready to go!  His team is the Red Sox, they got little uniforms and hats!

Ryley also had something fun to do on Saturday morning for a change – Jenn signed her up for gymnastics at Sandy’s 360!  She was apparently a little tentative at first (read: pouty), but warmed up to it and had some fun after all.

More bike riding later that day – Josh was being nice and giving Ryley a turn!

Sunday was a birthday party for our little friend Mackenzie, after some bouncy castle fun and a cupcake or two, we were given some fun bubbles on the way home – kids can’t resist bubbles!  And what a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon (or at least an hour of it) then blowing nice big bubbles?

After the bubble ran out, we took off the training wheels for one last hurrah on the bike for the weekend.  Josh wasn’t too sure about it, but we convinced him to give it a go…

Success!

Ryley had a cool little replica of their high chairs made by Grandma & Grandpa Boys for her dolly – so while I was taking a few photos of Josh’s bike she wanted me to take some of her and her dolls as well.  I think I caught the dolls suntanning!

Ah, Ryley and her upside-down sunglasses (a usual sight)!
All in all, a fun weekend!  Will keep Josh practicing on that bike…!
