Jenn has been training for a few months or so with some new-found girlfriends for the annual May 24th (Bermuda Day) “1/2 Marathon Derby”. (They even got matching outfits!)
(Above, L-R) Destiny, Alex, and Jenn waiting for the ferry out to Somerset; added Alex’s friend Eric to the mix below before the start.
Jenn unfortunately pulled a calf muscle about a week before the race,
but was able to nurse it back to relative health before game day! To help her stay injury-free, it was recommended that she wear a pair of compression socks during the race. Hence the blinding pink socks you see her wearing, thank goodness I had sunglasses on…
(The shirt says “I’m only – 13.1 – half crazy”)
The humidity during the race was reported to be about 94%, most of the runners were really feeling it by the end. (There were several ambulances dispatched to various points throughout the race, unfortunately!) About 10-15 minutes after Jenn finished, the heavens opened and everyone got soaked! Luckily I had a giant beach umbrella to shelter Jenn, the kids, and a few friends. ;0)
The girls’ results:
Good job – congrats on the run! Time to start training for January…!
