Well, the day has finally come – Jenn and her friend Alex have put their blood, sweat, and tears into their training for this Olympic-distance triathlon. The course out at Clearwater is a bit of a grueling one, with the athletes having to perform several laps of the same circuit in each of the disciplines. (Surely it was hard enough, let alone having to remember what lap you’re on!)
The girls both performed admirably, surely due to their support crew on the sidelines!
The kids wanted to give high-fives on every lap, plus they would run out to greet both Jenn and Alex as they approached our roadside hangout. Josh managed to run with Jenn for a few short bursts!
Cue the ‘Chariots of Fire’ music…
Congratulations! Jenn finished in 3:08:02 (yes, that’s over 3 hours of straight exercise!), with Alex following shortly after at 3:14:00.
Of course, the race was followed by the customary dip in the ocean…
Then it was back to our place later that afternoon for a BBQ at our new place! All the ‘kids’ enjoyed playing in the big tree in the front yard…
Big Dave brought over a lobster to scare the kids with… and to eat. Destiny and I managed to cook it up just right for all to enjoy along with Jenn’s great appetizers and my burgers!
You should have seen the kids’ rooms afterwards… (no, for some reason I didn’t take a picture!) What a disaster. They had lots of fun, though – mainly with the dress-up clothes (some of which Ryley has clearly outgrown)!
And of course, Cooper got lots of cuddles from everyone, he was well behaved considering the chaos the kids were creating! All in all a great way to finish off a big day. Congrats again, Jenn and Alex!
