As always, there were a few ‘goings on’ for Halloween this year, plus Grandma & Grandpa Boys were down too (avoiding the snow back home). A week or so before All Hallows Eve we did some pumpkin-picking out at the Hog Bay farm, just like last year. The kids found some good Jack-o-lantern pumpkins, with a little help from Cooper.
Jenn had organized a party at her office on Halloween day for her co-workers’ and their kids, so Ryley donned her bumblebee costume and Josh suited up as a muscle-bound Spider Man. The costumes were pretty cute – I think the muscles were hilarious. Especially when he had his school uniform on underneath and his school shoes, he let his collar out and looked like ‘Business Man Spidey’ or something.
Our new neighborhood apparently is one of the popular spots to go trick-or-treating for the kids, so this was our first year since moving to Bermuda that we actually had to buy candy to hand out – I think we went through enough for about 150 people or so. Josh was eager to help hand it out before we took the kids for some of their own, we handed the candy bowl to grandpa to man the door while we went around the neighborhood.
We encouraged our friends to come and park by our house and go around
our neck of the woods, which many did – Ethan and Natasha hung out and came around trick-or-treating with us – but not before Spiderman and the Fuzz got into a (playful) tussle and Ryley was busted for public nudity!
The kids had fun and took home a decent haul – they then generously donated nearly all of it to the Switch Witch (like the tooth fairy – leave the candy out that you don’t need and overnight the Switch Witch will come and trade the candy for a toy or something). I was a little sad that the candy disappeared so quickly…
Hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween!
