Ryley’s school, Building Blocks Academy, held another of their popular performances this evening, and it was great.  The school is growing, and the popularity of these shows hasn’t waned in the least, resulting in the BBA having to move the show from the City Hall Amphitheater to at the Ruth Seaton James Theatre at Cedarbridge Academy, one of the largest venues on the island (I think)!  And it was packed, let me tell you.  Thankfully Jenn and I put in some time helping out the teachers with preparations and were rewarded with access to front row seats!

This show’s theme was “Once Upon a Time at the BBA”, which was basically a Disney movie musical.  Ryley’s teachers are very creative and always find fun ways to incorporate popular music and great costumes into their shows, this one was no exception.  Ryley’s first number (out of only two, unfortunately!) was based on the “Bee Movie”, she did some cool hip-hop groovin’ to some Black Eyed Peas (“Imma Be” = sounds like “I’m a Bee”, get it?).

Above – the head bob… Below – waving to the family in the crowd and making a silly face!

Her second number was based on the “Cars” movie, with some (slightly) choreographed moves to Rascal Flatts’ “Life Is a Highway”.  The girls were Finn McMissile from the movie (there were only two of them in this number), hence the greyish costume!

Poor Ryley blew a shoe during the number, and she was determined to get it back on… which she did (followed by a cheer from Mom)!

Jenn put in some hours creating costumes for one of the numbers, she made some parrots and Blue Macaws for the “Rio” number, which sadly, Ryley wasn’t a participant.  Oh well…

And of course, who can resist a little “Gagnam Style” at the end of the show?

Josh is a very popular Alumni with the teachers at the BBA, he pulled up shy at the end when they tried to pull him up on stage…!

Here’s a few little clips of Ryley’s performances at the show!
