It’s late February, and as every Canadian knows it’s time to plant your garden!  Ok, maybe not – but if you’re living in Bermuda it seems like the right time to do it.  There is a large flat area in our yard that was used for an above-ground swimming pool by the previous tenants; they took their pool when they left, leaving a large flat area with no grass.  My ambitious wife got the idea to plant a garden, so a-planting we will go!  She actually took a gardening course to learn a bit more than your average bear about gardening, so here’s her test!

We had the landlord dig up the hard packed soil with a rototiller earlier this year, but it seemed too early to plant then so we left it until now – Ryley and I were charged with the task of re-digging up the soil when the time came to get it going.  Luckily Jenn’s ambition had waned a bit and we were only instructed to dig up about a quarter of the entire area (whew!).  Ryley will attest, it was hard work.

So here is the finished product (including some herbs in a planter box nearby) – hopefully in a few months we’ll be feasting on her freshly-grown garden veggies (which I think includes a few potatoes, corn, tomatoes, and carrots to name a few).

Check back in a little while to see how it’s making out!
