Running races aren’t just for adults and older kids anymore!  With events like the “Magic Mile”, the “Dash at Dark”, and today’s “Round the Grounds” race, kids as young as 3 to 4 years old can get in on the action!  Josh was in the Magic Mile race (one lap of the National Stadium track) last year and again just a few weeks ago, and also the Dash at Dark about a week or so ago as well.
Ryley wasn’t satisfied to just sit on the sidelines any longer, however, and after Josh’s last race she told Jenn that she wanted to do one, too!  Luckily, the KPMG Round the Grounds race was open to kids her age, and Jenn ‘just happened’ to have the cutest little running outfit for her lying around the house, so Roo was good to go!

As you can see, she was quite happy to be in the race!  They started out with a little warm up (she is roaring like a tiger below) before they lined everyone up and let ’em go!

A little support from Mom halfway to the finish…

Ryley certainly wasn’t the fastest in her race (I think she came in last), but what she lacked in speed she made up for in pure adorable-ness!  She ran the whole race from start to finish, we were so proud of her!

Of course, Josh ran as well, as did a bunch of his speedy friends!  He enjoys these events, he gives them his best shot and isn’t sad when he doesn’t come in first.  He has been telling people proudly that he got 5th in a race he did before, he’s a good sport!

Here he is with his buddy, Nate, from his class at school.  Handsome fellas!

Another great day with the kids, making us proud!
