For 25 years there has been a kids’ triathlon out at Clearwater Beach for kids, but during the time Josh has been big enough to do it we typically end up being busy and miss it… but not this year!  On the 22nd, the Capital G Iron Kids’ Triathlon was held, there were races for 11-14 year olds, then 7-10 years, and finally the 3-6 year olds.  There was luckily a fair on the grounds as well with lots of stuff for the kids to do while they were waiting for their race to start!

There were lots of kids in the 3-6 year old race, plus lots of parents with the kids (a requirement to participate)… Jenn went with Josh while we recruited our friend (and Ryley’s “best friend”) Alex to accompany Ryley around the very short race course.  I attempted to take a few photos but there were just far too many people around… so I cheered them on from the sidelines when I could see them.

The race took about 5 minutes (don’t pay attention to the clock in the pictures above), but that wasn’t nearly enough kids’ action for us!  Jenn, Alex, and another triathlon partner-in-crime Kandis Matthews were going to do a mini-triathlon the following Thursday (today) out at Clearwater again, so we planned to take the kids out and set up another race just for the kids afterward.

Josh, Ryley, and the Matthew’s daughter Kailie had a blast, they all swam / biked / ran hard to the finish!

Kailie’s brother, Kolton (who just turned 2) decided to join in on his own accord right at the end, big smiles all the way!

Luckily there is a Pizza House just up the road – we commandeered the lifeguard stand on the beach to eat and have some refreshments after everyone’s exercise!

A fantastic evening had by all… not a bad way to spend a Thursday night!  ;0)
