As most of you likely know, Jenn is quite keen when it comes to her fitness. Whether it be Crossfit, running, or triathlons, there are many a lunch hour and early mornings dedicated to these pursuits.
There have been several sprint-distance and a few Olympic-distance triathlons over the past few years, but she’s raising the bar with her latest goal. In April, we’ll be tagging along with her to Florida for her first half Ironman race! Her friends Alex and Kandis have also ‘caught the bug’, so they are all training together for the event. They have employed the help of a coach to keep them in line and motivated, part of their training is taking part in additional races along the way!
The first triathlon the three of them participated in since accepting their mission was the annual Bank of Bermuda tri in St. George’s back in September.

A speedy finish by Jenn, with some motivation!

The girls all had a good showing here, with plenty of smiles after the race – always a good sign! (Kandis’ husband Joel did it as well.) Overall results below… Jenn, Kandis, and Alex were 5th, 6th, and 5th respectively in their age groups, well done!

A few months’ worth of training later, in early December, Jenn and Kandis took a trip over to Florida for an Olympic-distance event in Key West. Yes, outfits were coordinated beforehand… as Alex wasn’t able to make it they wore her favorite colour in her honour! ;0)

The pair were pleased with their race results, it was Kandis’ first Olympic-distance triathlon and she did really well, turning in a sub-three hour performance! Jenn’s previous Olympic race was in September of 2012 where she posted a 3:08:02 – she destroyed that time in this one, very well done! Congratulations to the two of you – results are below, as well as Jenn’s finishing certificate.

Of course, they had a little fun while there – it was a girls’ weekend after all!

Naturally, you can’t go to the US in December and not do a little shopping, either. And poor Amazon delivery guys!

There is still a lot of training to do between now and the 1/2 Ironman in April… stay tuned!
