Every year, there are three sponsored races for kids in the early months of the year – the Telford Magic Mile at National stadium, the Dash at Dark around the rugby pitch / track next to the National stadium, and finally the Round the Grounds race at the Botanical Gardens. Josh has done all three for the past few years, and last year was Ryley’s first foray into the kids racing scene with her appearance in the Round the Grounds race. This year she wanted to do all of them with Josh, so she did!
First up, the Telford Magic Mile…
She is so cute, she hears people cheering for her as the comes near the crowd and she waves to everyone all the way in to the finish line! Priceless.
Josh, of course, is no stranger to the race – though this year was the first time he had to employ a little strategy as he had to run two laps instead of one as in past years… ah, the trouble with getting older!
Coming around to the end of lap one… he’s making sure he is staying in front of his buddy Nate just behind him!
One last push to the end! Go Josh go!
Race #2: the “Dash at Dark”… another cool and windy evening, reminiscent of last year’s race…
Again with the wave to the end…!
And finally, race #3, the “Round the Grounds” race. Ryley was a little worried during this race, she was a little upset that she couldn’t see Jenn or I anywhere… it’s a hilly course, so Jenn had to stay with her at the start and run to the end (so Ryley couldn’t see her), luckily she spotted me and Josh shortly after the race started, Josh ran with her for part of the way to keep her happy. This seemed to work and she zoomed to the end!
