We’ve taken Josh to participate in the Family Center‘s annual kids’ golf clinic and BBQ for the past few years, though admittedly the timing is typically not great.  Usually we have to trek all the way over to Southampton to the Golf Academy / driving range on a work day evening.  (It’s for a good cause, so it’s ok!)  But – as with many activities as of late – it was postponed due to hurricane Gonzalo (it actually wrecked the driving range).  We were pleased to be able to attend the rescheduled / relocated clinic today, just up the road at the Ocean View golf course.

This year Ryley received her first set of new golf clubs (Josh got a new set as well) from Nana and Papa, so what better opportunity to get them dirty!

She enjoyed the chipping practice, but really enjoyed picking up the balls afterward!

Josh, of course, was an old hand with his smooth swing…

Above – Ryley’s slightly ‘unorthodox’ follow-through.  She gave it a good try and actually got a few good hits and didn’t get too frustrated.  Yay Ryley!

Below – Josh was getting a little excited after a few good hits and was really swinging at it.  After a few misses he calmed back down and got a bunch more great ones!

On to putting practice…

The numbers were a little down from previous years I think, which was too bad but on the bright side, it resulted in more food for the rest of us at the BBQ afterward!

The kids were having lots of fun, will have to keep them at it over the winter when the weather is just right for golf (sorry, Canadians)…
