With an official record of 7 wins and 2 losses this season, I’d say the Kodiaks have had a very successful year!  One last game on the schedule, against the Saltus Blacks.  Or was it?  The girls’ team from Saltus took the field at game time, I believe they are called Saltus Valencia…

The first 20 minutes of the game went scoreless, with goalies at both ends making some good saves.  Maybe the boys were shocked to be playing against a girls’ team again?

Josh started in period 2, I think he was fired up and determined to score a goal today, as it was the last opportunity to do so this season!  He made some good rushes up the wing, made some good plays, and his efforts led to a few goals being scored by his teammates… but none for Josh on this day.  His buddy Nate, however, was also hungry for goals and came away with three in a row in the second frame.  Luke would add a fourth goal before the final period began.

Valencia wasn’t down yet, however – they came back with two goals early in the third, only to have Nate strike again and Freddie finishing off the scoring for the game.  6-2 was the final, the Kodiaks ending their season on a high note and an 8-2 record.

So that’s it for the season – Coach Nic has done a great job coaching the boys; they responded well to him and played great all year.  Most importantly, I think every one of them would say they had FUN, which is the name of the game, of course!

Josh had a great year, I really enjoyed watching him play each and every game.  His skills have improved a lot this year, as have the rest of the boys; I’m looking forward to next season for sure!

Until then… Go, Kodiaks!
