Aaah, spring. It seems that the ‘winter’ here has been longer than usual, March usually ushers in the first of the spring-like weather but this year it held out until Easter time.
As in previous years, the kids get a nice long Easter break at Warwick Academy, the break also serves to mark the end of the winter sport season (football / hockey / gymnastics)!

For the week or so leading up to the break Ryley and Mommy did a little cookie baking, and some little bunny pancakes were seen from time to time for breakfast! There were some Easter crafts done up for the school’s Easter competition as well, and the Warwick Academy kite day is held right before the break.

The kids are kept busy during the few weeks they have off. This year Josh was enrolled in a cricket camp with some of his buddies to try his hand at a new sport, and Ryley did an art / activities camp. They both seemed to enjoy their time at the camps.
Jenn helped organize the annual Easter happy hour / kids party for her office at BAMZ, everyone had a good time and the kids enjoyed the egg hunt per usual! They nearly had to fight off the roaming peacocks that were in the vicinity, I think they wanted some chocolate eggs too!

We also tried our hand for the first time at making a real Bermuda kite with tissue paper, the Tucker’s Point Club held a kite-making afternoon. They already had frames made up (which, in my opinion as a rookie kite-maker, were not the best), we just had to paste on the tissue paper, and then rig up the kite tail and string at home.

So, on Good Friday, we went to Horseshoe Bay with our tissue paper kites to test them out. I admittedly didn’t have any faith they would fly so the parrot & Barbie kites came along, too.

As suspected, the tissue paper kites failed spectacularly, but we had an enjoyable day flying the other kites during our first beach outing of the year. Horseshoe was pretty busy but still seemed to have enough space for what must have been the hundreds of kite flyers that came out!

We went to Tucker’s Point for an Easter fair on the Saturday, the highlight was the kids’ egg hunt on the driving range. They hid full-sized creme eggs (yes, my favorite!) all throughout the range, the organizer told us afterwards there were literally a thousand of these things out there. Our kids managed to bring in around 30 or so between them so Daddy was very happy! ;0)

Easter Sunday was fairly quiet, as the weather was less than ideal. The Easter Bunny hid eggs in the house, which the kids found after opening their little gifts (chocolate from the bunny, clothes from Mom).

Another week ahead of camps for the kids and then back to school! Hope everyone had a good Easter!
