Grandma Boys is always happy to find an excuse to come down to Bermuda for a vacation!  Oddly enough, it all started a while back when my trusty computer decided to start dying on me… then after much research, I thought I’d take the leap and get a new iMac.  How is this related, you ask?  Turns out it was cheaper to fly her down and bring the computer with her (factoring in the Canadian exchange and family Apple discount) than just order one in or ship one over.  So a win-win – Grandma comes for a visit, and I get a new computer!  (Huge thanks to Grandma for bringing it and to Uncle Tim for working for Apple!)

We kept Grandma fairly busy during her time here, with trips to the Tucker’s Point pool…

…and Ferry Reach!

The kids and I brought along our bikes for a little ride while Grandma & Jenn had a nice walk.

And, bonus!  There happened to be a little sailboat race going by while we were at Ferry Reach, there were lots of little boats sailing but even more boats motoring alongside – made for quite a scene.

We also went up to St. George’s for lunch and a little wander…

…then back to Clearwater beach for a little chilling out after Ryley practiced her bike riding in the parking lot nearby.

It just so happened that eclectic hip-hop violinist Taylor Rankin was putting on a few performances around the island during Grandma’s stay as well, so Jenn wrangled some tickets and the ladies had a girls night out.

That’s not all (I swear Grandma was only here for about 10 days)!  The kids had a little triathlon, too – the annual Iron Kids race – she’s certainly getting her fill of activities and beach time!

And we’re not done yet!  A new restaurant called Marcus’ at the Hamilton Princess had just opened on June 11th, so in honor of Grandma’s visit, my birthday, father’s day, the beginning of summer, and just because, we went out for a swanky (yet casual) dinner at the newest restaurant on the island.

(We invited a few friends – Kandis & Joel – as well!)

Grandma’s last full day just so happened to be my birthday / Father’s Day, so Jenn took her to Tucker’s Point for a few last Pina Coladas with Ryley while I took Josh golfing at the Hamilton Princess with his buddy Jack and his dad Mike.  Jack has been taking lessons and we were all keen to get out for a round!

The boys made a lot of great shots, and while I think team Wilson edged out team McDonnell, we all played the full 18 holes on the par-3 course (on a very hot day, I might add!) and had a great time.

Then home for steak and ice cream for dinner – oh yeah!

Thanks again for coming for a visit Helen / Grandma!  We all had a great time and look forward to seeing you again soon…!
