Ah, late winter / spring. Must be the kids’ running season! As with the past several years, the kids donned their running gear and hit the track, rugby pitch, and Botanical Gardens for the Telford Electric Mile, the Dash at Dark, and the Round the Grounds races.
Ryley enjoys looking adorable in her little running outfit…!
Ryley put in a solid effort in her half-mile race, coming in at 4:49.53, good for 39th of 48 in her age group. She may have been a little quicker but stopped to help a friend along the way!
Josh was pretty fresh off some success at this venue at the Primary Cross Country race in early February, and was hoping for a good result again.
While not as quick as his Cross Country race, he crossed the line of his mile-long race in 10:33.84, in 56th place (of 101). Well done, sir!
Next was the Dash at Dark… a race where I nearly always have a hockey game either during or after their races (and the weather is always cool and windy!) This year was no different, and unfortunately I had to miss this one so Mom was on camera duty!
After much goofing around it looks like – Ryley completed her half-mile in 4:41.1 (83rd of 103) and Josh did his mile in 7:15.3 (21st of 73).
This brings us to the final race of the series, the Round the Grounds race. This one is much hillier than the other two, but the kids pay it no mind – they just go for it!
Josh zipped around the course, finishing just behind his buddy Ethan in a time of 7:39.4 and was 22nd of 46. Ryley gave her best run of the series, coming in 28th of 41 and a time of 4:06.6.
Of course, the best part of all these races is hanging out and competing with friends…
