Back in July, we were supposed to go out for a wakeboarding adventure but ended up having to have it postponed… I think we nearly forgot about it until the rescheduled date popped up on our calendar just before the weekend!

I can’t remember what the weather was like on the day we were originally supposed to go, but today the weather was ideal for zipping around Harrington Sound on a boat!

Josh was pretty happy to go first, despite his limited powerboat experience (let along never being pulled behind one!)…

Oooh… crash and burn on his first try, but he popped back up with a smile on his face ready to try again!

Whoa – that one was close but again ended with a splash before he got all the way up… so close!  He was not discouraged yet, but wanted to give Ryley a turn while he took a rest.

Aww!  Really good try, she was being really brave!

Another close one!  Her bravado wore off after this one – so time for Dad to step up and inspire the kids!

As any good Dad would do, I fell down the first attempt at getting up (‘epic fail’ as the kids would refer to it), but the 2nd time was the charm – the kids had fun watching me zoom back and forth over the wake… have to admit I was surprised to be able to do it half decently after many years’ hiatus!

Josh was ready for his 2nd round after Dad’s inspiring performance. šŸ™‚

SUCCESS!  He fought it for a moment but then popped up – he was smiling ear to ear the rest of the ride!

Mom’s turn!  A natural athlete, she got up on the first try and didn’t even crash once (how boring…)! šŸ™‚  Nicely done.

Josh having another go with a slightly longer rope (he switched to the short rope last time hoping for better luck).

Ryley Roo gave it another shot… she wasn’t feeling too confident, but was willing to give it another shot…

…with SUCCESS!  She got up for a few seconds, only to be satisfied with her achievement and promptly let go / crashed so she could get in the boat again.  Nicely done nevertheless.

Thanks to Axis Bermuda for the fun and memorable ride in the afternoon sun!
