Doing the Electric Boogaloo

Ryley Roo recently had her 8th birthday… 8! Yikes! Those teenage years are looming ever closer… 😬

She didn’t have many requests for her actual birthday – the only one, really, was to have her and Mom rent a ‘Twizy’ and go for a ride. What’s this ‘Twizy’ you ask? Well, since the America’s Cup happened here earlier this year, a company called Current Vehicles has been offering these small electric 2-seater cars to tourists instead of the traditional scooter! So Jenn grabbed one and went to collect her from school before proceeding to do a mini-tour around the island, stopping for a snack at the Southampton Princess’ Jasmine lounge, popping up for a look at Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse, then zooming into town to meet up with Josh and I for dinner at the House of India (her 2nd birthday request) before heading home for some chocolate cake. By her account she had a great day!

Next stop on the birthday train was the official party. Her idea this year was to have a bunch of games set up here at the house and just have her friends come over to play! Unfortunately we had to postpone the party for a week (lots of kids away for their mid-term break), but I think it worked out for the best as we ended up having amazing weather earlier today for the party. We even had just a spot of rain so that we could see a rainbow. How sweet was that!

Jenn found a company here on the island that rents giant, outdoor versions of Connect Four, Jenga, and Plinko, and to make sure there was enough to go around for the girls she made up a few more. Ryley especially enjoyed giving out the prizes to everyone, she had them all organized so everyone would get the same amount. So after a few hours of fresh air and games, then doughnuts, this year’s birthday festivities officially wrapped.

Thanks of course to all the girls for coming and having fun with Ryley (and for the gifts)!
